Since the release of 2001's beautifulgarbage they've battled their way through
tantrums, bust-ups and a lingering case of writer's block before finally getting
their act together, plugging in the guitars and opting for the no-brainer "let's
just rock out!" strategy. The back to basics approach is evident on this lead
single from Bleed Like Me, their comeback LP, and no doubt there will be many who
hail this as something of a return to form. Aside from the oddly absent question
mark in the title, though, it appears to be missing anything in the way of
excitement or originality. "Why do you love me? You're driving me crazy" could
well be the dullest lyrics to ever be penned by a supposedly cutting-edge band,
and if you're expecting these tired old guitar riffs to compensate, you'll be
sorely disappointed.
