Jonathan Trott marked his return to South Africa by sharing an unbroken 56-run partnership with captain Andrew Strauss to help England reach 66 for one after 15 overs in their opening tour match against the Diamond Eagles in Bloemfontein.

The Warwickshire batsman looked relaxed in what was his first appearance for England in his country of birth, hitting 30 from 35 balls, while his captain and partner was on the same score from 48 deliveries.

The pair helped their side recover from the early loss of Joe Denly, who after taking three runs off Victor Mpitsang to get off the mark, was cleaned bowled at the other end for 10.
