Simon Pegg had "such fun" with Tom Cruise during filming for 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol'.
The 41-year-old actor enjoyed going go-carting with his co-star during a break from shooting their latest movie in Dubai, and Tom created laughs on set by dressing up in equipment from his 1990 motion picture 'Days of Thunder', which sees him play a stock car driver, for the day out.
Simon said: "It was such fun. It's nice to penetrate the noxious cloud of myth that surrounds him.
"Sometimes we're hanging out and it's just me and Tom at a hockey game. But sometimes he puts on his sunglasses and smiles and it's like, 'Oh my god, it's you'."
Tom hired out the entire go-carting centre for the day and the 'Star Trek' actor suddenly realised the triple Golden Globe-winning star has to go to such great lengths to be able to "relax" while out and about.
He explained: "We were hanging out eating burgers and chatting and it occurred to me this was the only way he could have that level of relaxation.
"Tom understands his place on the food chain. It's pretty high up."
Simon is particularly fond of one running joke he shared with Tom during filming, when he used to sprint with the 49-year-old star on set on a regular basis.
He added to the Big Issue magazine: "We have this joke on set. I ask Tom if he's going to do some running, because he's such an impressive sprinter, and we run and I tell him, 'I can't believe I'm doing a sprint with you'."
