Rockstar Spud wins TNA British Boot Camp
Rockstar Spud has been crowned the winner of 'TNA British Boot Camp'.
The wrestler was chosen by Hulk Hogan and TNA President Dixie Carter over the other hopefuls Marty Scurll and The Blossom Twins to win a contract to compete on the grappling company's flagship TV show 'IMPACT Wrestling'.
Spud broke down in tears after being told the news by the pair in the final episode of the reality TV show - which was aired on Challenge last night (22.01.13) - and admitted the victory meant everything to him.
Spud said: ''This is the greatest moment of my life. I can finally tell my parents that I'm not a failure, this isn't a dream, this is my job, this is what I do.''
Wrestling legend Hulk praised Spud for his abilities and charisma and also paid tribute to Marty and The Blossom Twins - Hannah and Holly - admitting he was ''blown away'' by all their performances in the final matches to determine the winner.
Although Spud and Marty had been fierce rivals throughout the series, Spud paid tribute to him afterwards, saying: ''I know how much this meant to him, I know how great a wrestler he is.''
Although only one of the British grapplers could win a professional contract, all four were told by the judges they would get the chance to compete on the 'Road To Lockdown Tour' of the UK and Ireland which is taking place this week and culminates in a double TV taping at Wembley Arena in London on Saturday (26.01.13).
Speaking before the series aired, Spud admitted the reality show was his last chance to make it as a pro wrestler and he wasn't sure what he'd do if he didn't win.
The 29-year-old star - who is just 5ft 3in tall - said: ''I'm at an age where I don't know what I'll do. If I didn't get picked ... who knows what would happen?
''I've defied enough odds as it is, being the physical specimen that I am. It's like, what more can I do? I've given everything I had. I've given 11 years, and every drop of sweat and blood I had.''
