A global television audience of 750 million watched Lady Diana Spencer marry Prince Charles at St Paul’s Cathedral in July 1981. After the ceremony, the couple made a historic appearance on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, where this picture, one of the most enduring of the 20th century, was taken.
