From Vale to Chelsea

Chelsea and Vale - ready to walk

Port Vale and Chelsea may be miles away in the world of football but one woman is hoping to bring them closer together and raise money for charity at the same time.

Nicky Cockburn plans to walk nearly 200 miles from Port Vale's ground to Stamford Bridge and raise money and awareness for the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

The 29-year-old, who has been blind since birth, owes much to the help she has received from her guide dogs, Vale (now retired) and Chelsea.

"Vale, my first dog, gave me independence and confidence," says Nicky, "Vale retired in 2006 and now I have a new dog called Chelsea. I hope Chelsea will continue, as Vale does, to guide and inspire me to help others."

Nicky plans to walk the route in September; if you would like to donate or join her on her walk, catch all the information at Vale to Chelsea
