Background
Born and bred Man Utd fan Scott Gilman lives in Chatham, Kent with his football mad family. They are very supportive of him and his love of football. Scott’s passion for football began when his cousin Andrew started him playing football when he was six years old. Andrew remembers teaching him to kick the ball and he’s now really proud of what Scott has achieved. Scott started to get good at fourteen years old when he began to believe in himself and his own ability.
Football
Scott’s dream is to become a professional footballer – he lives, eats and breathes football. When he saw the advert for Nike Most Wanted he was particularly motivated by what Sir Alex Ferguson said – he thinks it would be an amazing opportunity to be coached by him.Last year Scott had trials for Charlton, they thought he was good but they had another similar player in the same position. He also went to open trials for Bournemouth in April 07, but luck was not on his side and snow prevented the scouts turning up. He is attending open trials for Crystal Palace in September.
Recently, Mark Stimson who is a coach for Gillingham FC spotted Scott. Mark thought he had potential and has asked him to come in for some pre-season training with Gillingham FC.
Most Wanted prep
In his preparation for the Most Wanted trials he’s been training especially hard, particularly on his upper body strength. He plays matches three times a week, goes to the gym twice a week to work on upper body strength and goes swimming on a Saturday. He also practices the drills from the Nike Most Wanted web site in his garden and local park.
