“Okay, so Lewis still could have finished higher than fifth but Kimi did a bloody good job in the race, especially to put in that amazing lap to get ahead of Massa after the first pit stop and be able to hang on with more fuel on board. Other than that, I thought it was a fairly boring, processional race because you didn’t have the giants racing each other. Massa messed up, Lewis was behind and Kovalainen wasn’t quite there. There hasn’t been the ideal set-up for a great race yet but there is going to be one, mark my words.
“Of course, the McLaren duo didn’t help themselves with being demoted five places on the grid after blocking in qualifying. I don’t think it was deliberate but it was a stupid thing to do. If you do impede you know you’re going to get a penalty. Maybe they were watching each other or thinking about saving fuel but their priorities were not in the right order. Your number one priority on a slowing down lap is to keep out of everybody else’s way and they probably had that third on the check list when it should have been first.”
