Sutil is probably the least experienced driver on this year's circuit, and is likely to be faced with learning the ropes at the back of the grid with the Spyker car.
A solid start in Formula Ford looked to be going nowhere until his breakthrough year in 2005 when he raced team-mate Lewis Hamilton close for the Formula 3 Euroseries title.
A move to Japan the following year turned out to be a good decision as he won the domestic F3 title, and his F1 break came when his team boss in F3 Euroseries Colin Kolles took over at Midland.
He was signed as a third driver for three GP Fridays, which led to his getting the Spyker drive for 2007.
