After finally breaking his duck in 2006 with victory in Hungary, many expected Jenson Button to continue his superb late season form with a full assault on the title this year - sadly it looks unlikely to materialise.
Indeed, it is debatable whether Honda can turn around their dreadful form in the first three races even to challenge for podium places.
Button deserves better, especially after a steady maturing of his talent since his debut as a 20-year-old in 2000 led to him first being the best non-Ferrari driver in 2004, and then his breakthrough win and some amazing performances last year.
He undoubtedly has the talent, but does he want it enough? If he can come through this slump he may yet surprise the F1 world this year.
