BMW's first year as a fully works team after taking over the well-established Sauber team went well, though the German giants will be looking for more results this year.

Nick Heidfeld consistently outqualified and outraced team-mate Jacques Villeneuve, and the Canadian was eventually ousted in favour of Polish test driver Robert Kubica, who immediately showed immense speed.

Monza'a race saw their second podium finish - this time going to Kubica in only his third F1 grand prix. And although Kubica didn't score again, Heidfeld claimed two additional points finishes to see BMW finish fifth in their debut season in Formula One.

In 2007, BMW should expect more podium finishes - although their first win is still probably a season or two away. Pre-season testing has been extremely encouraging.
