Well it’s all over and I made it through, in one aching piece. I’ve mentioned before that triathlon can prove expensive, and Sunday turned out to cost me far more than I’d spent during the last 8 months. The final few days of the journey. Friday – lots of good luck emails and texts from people during the day at work – really appreciated. More pasta. Break into star jumps during one meeting just to expend some of the energy. Saturday – my triathlon has gone under various random pronunciations in the Perrin house but today’s was the pick of the bunch. Bethany over lunch asked me if she could do a "triastronaut" when she’s older. (To be fair I had just asked her if she wanted to try some of my rocket salad so confusion is easily explained). Afternoon - head off to Excel centre at Docklands with bike in the boot of my car as I need to rack it in the bike hall. In a quite superb display of logistical planning, the Triathlon race pack gives instructions about how to get to the venue, which go something like this: The Excel centre is reached by taking the Jubilee line to Canning Town. Please note the Jubilee line is closed due to planned engineering works on Aug 9th and 10th. As an alternative you can take the Docklands Light Railway to Custom House. Please note the DLR will not allow bikes of any sort. We therefore suggest you use your own private transport (car). Please note that due to redevelopments, the car parking spaces will be limited to 4000 (for the 40,000 expected visitors). To make your journey to the London Triathlon even more tricky, please note that we have employed Special Forces to man a perimeter fence around the Excel centre and they have been ordered to shoot all visitors on sight. Can’t wait for the Olympics in 2012!
