Airports: five of the best
Singapore Changi (above)
Clean, shiny, spacious, efficient... we could go on. You'll waltz through Changi wishing all airports could be like this. Bonus features like free internet terminals and even a rooftop bar with its own cactus garden make it difficult to tear yourself away at departure time.
Copenhagen
Think of all the clichés you know about Scandinavian countries being clean, efficient and civilised - and see them in practice at Copenhagen's well-organised international airport. You certainly don't get nice wooden floors like these at Heathrow...
Hong Kong
As you might expect from such an elegant and striking city, Hong Kong's new airport is a haven of futuristic looks and clever design. It's relatively stress-free to travel through and is dead easy to reach from the city.
Tokyo Narita
It's getting on a bit but Narita oozes character, has an array of good shops and offers some of the best airport restaurants you'll ever eat at.
Papeete, Tahiti
You want an airport on a South Seas paradise island to look the part, and Fa'a International is just that. Laid-back, friendly, well-organised and decorated with lots of local flowers, it's a joy to travel through.
