Whilst Cornwall often gets credited with having the nation's best beaches, the Gower Peninsula in Wales gives it a run for its money. The beaches here are clean, untouched and breathtaking. Gower is particularly beautiful on summer days but perfectly great for hiking during winter months, when blustery grey weather makes the area all the more dramatic.
There's proof here, if it were needed, that you don't have to leave the UK to enjoy world-class beaches - just as long as you don't mind sharing them with the occasional sheep.
