Byron Bay, Australia
The city of Byron (drop the Bay, or they'll know you're a tourist) is a curious place, where holidaymakers, backpackers and unwashed new age types co-exist against the most stunning of natural backdrops. Sharks are a regular fixture too; if you want to see one without entering the water, head along the walkway to Cape Byron Lighthouse and peer towards the ocean in search of man-eaters. Or, join a diving trip to see the amazing sea-life at the Julian Rocks.
