Driving along south-west Victoria's spectacular coastline is, by far, the most interesting way to get from Melbourne to Adelaide. From Geelong in the east to Nelson in the west, the Great Ocean Road was actually built as a World War I memorial. It makes for divine driving and leads you to one of the most impressive sights, the world-famous giant rock stacks, the Twelve Apostles. The beaches and towns en route are gorgeous with the likes of Bells Beach, Wye River, Portland, Point Roadknight, Queenscliff and Ocean Grove, to name a few. Surfers are in a paradise of their own while the lush Otways rainforest and Port Campbell National Park offer stunning sights.
