The name alone warrants a ride, just to say you've been on the Shongololo Express. In fact, shongololo means "little worm" in Zulu. This African train travels through nine nations: Namibia, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Tanzania. One of its many routes is the Shongololo Dune Express from Cape Town up to the famous Cape Winelands and the rich, fertile soils along the Breede River. The journey continues through the Great Karoo, a land of vast plains and mountains and into Namibia where highlights include Namib-Naukluft Park, Etosha National Park, Swakopmund, the country's seaside resort, and the lovely, hilly city of Windhoek in the central highlands.
