Katie Sugden: played by Sammy Winnard

Personal details: Been through the mill somewhat. Has been in a coma after a car crash which actually killed her dad, has had an affair with her with her fiancé's brother and is currently having to play stepmum to Andy's baby he fathered with Debbie Dingle.

Great personality? A bit of a minx who was branded a scarlet woman when she set two brothers at war with one another and had a battle on her hands to win Andy's family's trust again when they reunited.

Typical line: "Have you got any other brothers, Andy?"

Charity Dingle: played by Emma Atkins

Personal details: Had a penchant for sleeping with cousins and worming her way into the affections of local big wigs. Was pregnant at 13 and married loaded and disabled businessmen Chris Tate before driving him to suicide after her affair with Cain.

Great personality? Was out for what she could get. Not all bad though as she was wrongly accused of being unfaithful to Tom and decided to be mother to Debbie after her foster parents couldn't take care of her anymore.

Typical line: "I didn’t kill Chris!"

Tom King

Tom King: played by Ken Farrington

Personal details: Property magnate and local big cheese who got lucky with sexy young blonde Charity Dingle but jilted her at the altar for cheating. Has lost a son in a car crash, and has covered up his own negligence after three people died when his show home exploded. Bumped off on Christmas Day 2006 and the murder hunt looks set to run and run!

Great personality? Ruled his roost with a rod of iron, didn't suffer fools gladly and his business dealings didn't always prove popular with the locals. The fatal explosion of his show home means there are plenty of potential suspects in the frame for his murder.

Typical line: "Let’s keep this mess covered up."
