basic player help

This is where you'll find out how to use the basic bits of the player. If you've checked that you have the things you need (media plugins and the like) to make the player work then we can get started on the things you can do within the player...

What do you want to watch? Find it

If you know you want to watch some rugby, or an in depth analysis of Paris Hilton's habit of keeping small mammals in her handbags, you can cut to the chase and find that very content on the player by typing your key words into the search box at the top left of the player.

In the same way that you'd search on google, take out the 'and's and 'the's and stick to the key words. Click the search button and your search results will appear below the video window. Clicking on anything which appears there will launch the video.

Channels

In the same way you'd have channels on a tv set, we have them too. Listed alphabetically down the left hand side you'll see 'movies', 'sport', 'tv' and more. Clicking on these will take you to that channel. Once you're in a channel you'll be able to see the sub channels available within that channel. For example, under movies, you'll find trailers, behind the scenes, feature films and more. Clicking on a sub channel will load the videos available, below the video window, within the schedule.

Video Controls

You can control the video you're watching, by using the buttons just below the video window, you can pause, rewind to the start of the video, fast forward to the end, or use the slider to skim to any part of the video. You can control the volume, there's a mute button in case you're supposed to be working and don't want anyone to know you're watching videos. There's also a full screen option, which will blow the video up to fill your monitor, for that full on video eyeball experience.

What's On? The schedule

Below the video window, where it says 'on now', are the videos available for you to watch. Clicking on any one of these will load it in the video window for you to watch.

Once you've got the hang of the basic stuff you can check out the more advanced (but still not complicated) parts of the player.
