Are you ready to tackle rugby’s greatest championship? Good, because it’s NatWest 6 Nations time!

2018 NatWest 6 Nations, from Saturday 3 February, BBC + ITV

The squads have been selected, the tactics have been chosen and now it’s time for the Northern Hemisphere’s finest international rugby teams to light up your winter with a series of thrilling encounters.

Year after year, the NatWest 6 Nations is a fiercely fought competition, and 2018’s battle looks like being one of the most exciting yet. After winning nine of their last ten NatWest 6 Nations games, England are the favourites, and will be going all out to become the first nation to win the title three times in a row.

“I’m excited, as we’ve got a chance to create history,” says coach Eddie Jones. “But I would anticipate that this 6 Nations is going to be harder than any of the 6 Nations we have played in previously.”

Much of this increased difficulty is to do with the resurgence of Scotland. For the majority of last decade, the Scots have joined Italy at the bottom of the NatWest 6 Nations table, but after running New Zealand close and hammering Australia in the autumn, they go into this tournament with championship-winning aspirations.

“We will approach February with the belief that we can win all our games if we play our best,” states new Scotland head coach Gregor Townsend.

Add in the unpredictability of France and the proven brilliance of Wales and Ireland, and you have all the ingredients necessary for an absolutely brilliant run of top quality rugby matches. And the even better news? Every single minute is live on Virgin TV.
