It’s Eurovision time!

Graham Norton is back hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 and you can test your expert knowledge with our fabulous picture quiz

Glitter cannons, wind machines and traditional folk pipes at the ready – it’s time for Eurovision!

Eurovision Song Contest 2018, Saturday 12 May, 8pm, BBC One/HD (CH 101/108). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > BBC iPlayer

Finally! It’s the time of year when we can all set aside our political differences (sort of) and celebrate the musical talents (again, sort of) of this wonderful continent of Europe (still, sort of – Australia and Israel will be there, too).

This time we’re in Lisbon, Portugal, where the UK is being represented by a lady called SuRie, with a belter called “Storm”. And she’s got great Eurovision credentials – she was a backing dancer for Belgian entrant Loïc Nottet in 2015, and was a musical director for Belgium’s Blanche in the 2017 contest. She has also provided backing vocals for Will Young and Chris Martin. Check out her tune below!

Other contenders to look out for include Ireland’s entry, Ryan O’Shaughnessy, who you may recognise as a Britain’s Got Talent finalist (fun fact: his uncle Gary represented Ireland in 2001). Plus Alexander Rybak, who won the contest for Norway back in 2009 with a record points total, returns to front his country’s 2018 bid for glory.

And, of course, Graham Norton and his sparkly jacket are back to add some sassy commentary to the night’s proceedings. To tide you over until the actual event, have a go at our Eurovision picture quiz. Can you guess which country our mystery contestant cartoons are from?
