Local elections 2008

On 1st May 2008, local government elections were held in 137 English Local Authorities and all Welsh Councils, as well as for the Greater London Authority.

As the votes are being counted, indications are that Labour may have suffered their worst defeat in a generation, falling to third place behind the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats.
