*Full fibre to the premises (FTTP) technology with average top speeds of 516Mbps
Virgin Media has completed the rollout of its ultrafast broadband network in Hoyland and North Hoyland which will bring the UK’s fastest widely available speeds in the UK to more than 10,000 homes and businesses.
As part of its ‘Project Lightning’ network expansion programme, Virgin Media is expanding its ultrafast broadband network across the UK, bringing average top speeds of 516Mbps to residents and small businesses.
This will help transform the quality of broadband in Hoyland where the average (median) download speed is 33.4Mbps.
Hoyland will benefit from fibre to the premises (FTTP) technology which allows for smooth, reliable connectivity in the home. With a 516Mbps connection, files, films and games become unbelievably quick to stream, download and upload:
**Hugh Woolford, Regional Director for North East and Yorkshire at Virgin Media, said:**“We are delighted that thousands of local residents and businesses in Hoyland can now start to benefit from the boost our ultrafast broadband will give them. Giving them greater speeds will enable them to do the things they need to do and love doing more quickly and more easily.”
Matthew Gladstone, Executive Director, Place Directorate at BMBC, said: “We welcome this digital investment from Virgin Media which will bring ultrafast broadband to thousands of homes and businesses in Hoyland. Fast, reliable connectivity is essential for modern life and this will revolutionise the way residents engage with online activity in the home.”
Virgin Media’s Oomph bundles
