How to set up Port Forwarding
1. Access the Hub settings page via the web page shown on the bottom of the device. For a guide on how to do this, please see Configure Advanced Settings on your Virgin Media Hub.
How to set up Port Triggering
- Select Port triggering
- Select Add rule
- For each port trigger rule that you would like to create, enter the following settings below
Trigger Range: the trigger range consists of the range of outgoing ports that will be monitored to trigger the incoming port forwarding rule:
- Start Port: enter the start port for the trigger range
- End Port: enter the end port for the trigger range
- Target Range: the target range consists of the range of incoming ports that will be opened when triggered:
- Start Port: enter the start port for the target range
- End Port: enter the end port for the target range
Protocol: select the protocol for the ports:
- TCP: selects TCP only
- UDP: selects UDP only
- TCP&UDP: selects both TCP and UDP
- Select On for the Enabled option
- Select Add rule to confirm the new port-trigging rule
- Enter 192.168.0.1 into the address bar of your browser
- Select Advanced Settings
To proceed with either port forwarding or port triggering, follow the relevant instructions below.
To set up port forwarding
- In the Security section, select Port Forwarding
- In the Predefined Rule section, select a service from the Service drop-down menu
- Optionally, you can also create a custom rule that is not in the list of predefined services by specifying the following settings in the Add Rule section:
- Name: enter a name for the service
- Start Port: enter the start port for the service
- End Port: enter the end port for the srvice
- Protocol: Select the protocol for the ports:
- TCP: selects TCP only
- UDP: selects UDP only
- TCP&UDP: selects both TCP and UDP
- IP Address: enter the local IP address for the computer that is using the service
- Select Add Rule to confirm the new port-forwarding rule and then select Apply
To set up port triggering
- Select Advanced Settings
- In the Security section select Port Triggering
- For each port trigger rule that you would like to create, enter the following settings:
Trigger Range: the trigger range consists of the range of outgoing ports that will be monitored to trigger the incoming port forwarding rule:
- Start Port: enter the start port for the trigger range
- End Port: enter the end port for the trigger range
Target Range: the target range consists of the range of incoming ports that will be opened when triggered:
- Start Port: enter the start port for the target range
- End Port: enter the end port for the target range
Protocol: select the protocol for the ports:
- TCP: selects TCP only
- UDP: selects UDP only
- TCP&UDP: selects both TCP and UDP
- Select the Enable box to activate the port trigger
- Select Apply to confirm the new port-triggering rules
