Can I keep my number when I join Virgin Mobile?

When you join us, if you've got a bit attached to your phone number, why not keep it? We can transfer your number to us in just one working day!

What do I need?

All you need to transfer your number is the following:

  • The Virgin Mobile number we’ve provided you with
  • Your Port Authorisation Code (PAC) which you get from your current service provider. This is a code that lets you transfer from one network to another and consists of three letters and six numbers
  • And finally, the number that you’d like to keep

Then just give our team a call on 789 from your Virgin mobile phone, or 0345 6000 789 ° from any other phone.

Your PAC code will last for 30 days and we can transfer your number in as little as 24hrs within this time. However, you’ll need to contact us with your PAC code before 6pm if you want us to arrange this for the next day. We’ll confirm the transfer day when you get in touch.

*Just so you know, if your transfer day lands on a bank holiday we’ll transfer your number on the next working day.

What else do I need to know?

If you already have a phone which you’d like to use instead of buying a new one from us, then you’ll need to check that your phone is unlocked. If it isn’t, just call your existing service provider and tell them you want to switch. You might need to give notice and pay an unlocking charge.

So we can transfer your number, your SIM card will need to be in the UK. So if you’re thinking about jetting off, it’s a good idea to arrange for the transfer of numbers to take place whilst you’re still in the UK.

We also recommend setting up the voicemail on the SIM card we’ve given you. Simply pop the Virgin Media SIM card into your phone and click here for the instructions to get set up.

If you Pay As You Go we’ll automatically send out a new e-top up card to you once your number has transferred.

Don’t forget, it’s a good idea to back up any information you may have on your old network SIM card, like numbers in your phone book as these won’t be transferred.

 

What will happen on the day of transfer?

On the day that we’ve arranged for your number to transfer, pop your new Virgin Media SIM card into your phone. The transfer of your number can take place at anytime during the day and you may experience a loss of service. Data services will be unavailable until the transfer has fully completed.
