How do I save contacts to my mobile phone?

Last updated: November 30, 2017

Saving contacts to your phone rather than your SIM card means that you won’t lose them if you change your SIM.

See how below:

If you have an iPhone, contacts are automatically saved to your phone rather than your SIM card so you won’t need to do anything to save them to your phone before swapping your SIM.

To save your contacts to your android phone rather than your SIM card, just go to:

Contacts - Menu - Import/Export - From SIM to Phone.

The path may vary slightly depending on your handset make and model. For more details, check out Virgin Mobile phone support. Just select your handset from the main menu and click on contacts from the list of topics. We’ve used the Samsung Galaxy S8 as an example below.

You can also refer to the manufacturers guide that you would have received with your handset.

To save contacts to your Windows phone rather than your SIM card, just follow the instructions below:

1. Tap People then tap Menu at the bottom (three dots)

2. Tap Settings - Import from SIM

3. Pick the contacts you want to move then tap import.

For more details, check out Virgin Mobile phone support. Just select your handset from the main menu and click on contacts from the list of options. We’ve used the Microsoft Lumia 650 as an example below.

You can also refer to the manufacturers guide that you would have received with your handset.

Voicemail

Once you swap your SIM card, you will no longer be able to access any previously saved voicemail massages, so make sure to note down any important information you want to keep as it will be deleted when you swap.
