Who will be tennis queen of 2018?

The top eight women in the world square off in Singapore for the WTA Finals, live on BT Sport

This season-ending spectacular is ready to serve up a treat…

2018 WTA Finals, from Sunday 21 October, 9.30am, BT Sport 1/HD (CH 531/527)

It’s been a headline-grabbing year on the WTA Tour, with shock wins, new faces and amazing meltdowns all making the news. And there’s still time for even more drama this week, as the best of the best meet in Singapore for the 2018 WTA Finals – which you can see live on BT Sport.

World number one and French Open champion Simona Halep – injury permitting – will be joined at the season-ending event by Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber (pictured below) and US Open champion Naomi Osaka (pictured top), with more top-class competitors still to be confirmed. Whoever joins them in Singapore, you can be guaranteed that they will have earned their place at an event that boasts nothing but A-list sporting superstars.

The singles event features a round-robin competition, with the eight players who’ve qualified with the best results from the 2018 season split into two groups of four. Over the first four days of competition, each player will face the other three in her group, with the top two in each pool smashing through to the semi-finals. Then the winner of each semi gets a chance to be crowned queen of the WTA in the final!

Love the cut and thrust of doubles tennis? Then you’ll be pleased to know that there’s also a doubles tournament that takes place alongside the singles. This sticks with the traditional, nerve-racking knock-out format – so lose a match and you’re gone! Last year’s winning pair, Tímea Babos and Andrea Sestini Hlavácková, have gone their separate ways but both return with new partners – so can one of them reclaim the title?

Whether you’ve been following every epic moment of this season’s WTA Tour, or if you’re a casual fan who likes to catch the bigger events, the 2018 WTA Finals is a must-watch. Witness all of the action of this year’s battle for glory, exclusively live on BT Sport.
