Will the Tigers roar to victory?

Will the Tigers roar to victory?

Only a win will do for Leicester against Northampton in the Aviva Premiership

With just three rounds of the regular season remaining, the pressure is well and truly on

Leicester Tigers v Northampton Saints, Saturday 14 April, 2.30pm, Channel 5/HD (CH 105/150)

May’s play-offs are looming, so now is the time for cool heads in the Aviva Premiership. We’re looking at you, Leicester Tigers.

English rugby’s most successful club currently sits inside the play-off spots, but a win at Welford Road against Northampton Saints is still an absolute must if the likes of George Ford, Jonny May and Ben Youngs want to keep their title hopes alive. Fail to secure a top-four finish and it’ll be the first time since 2004 that they’ve not reached the play-offs.

But standing in their way are a Saints side desperately trying to salvage something from their wreckage of their season. In short, they’ve had a ’mare.

Early elimination from the European Champions Cup led to the sacking of longstanding director of rugby Jim Mallinder in December, and now the club finds itself two places off the bottom of the table. This is a team that was crowned champions a mere four years ago. Still, with international stars like England captain Dylan Hartley and Wales wing George North to call upon, they could yet enjoy a strong finish to the season.

It’s all to play for when these two titans clash, and you can follow every try, ruck, scrum and maul live on Channel 5!
