If any Arsenal fans had reservations about the post-Wenger era, this absolute thriller has most definitely put them to bed. What. A. Game.

Junior Hoilett (Cardiff) v Wolves

A day before Neil Warnock turned the ripe old age of 70, his bold Bluebirds avenged the two-missed-penalties debacle in that defeat to their then Championship title rivals last season. Canadian Hoilett was the hero with a curling winner that gave Rui Patricio no chance from 25 yards. It was his fourteenth Premier League goal – four of which have bizarrely come against Wolves.

3. Performance of the weekend

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Arsenal) v Tottenham

Despite consistently banging them in for Borussia Dortmund, Auba’s Emirates switch went under the radar amid the Mkhitaryan-Sanchez saga last January. He’s since bagged 20 goals in 24 starts for Arsenal, including a game-changing equaliser in this one and 100% productivity from his ten shots on target this term. The Golden Boot awaits.

4. Manager of the weekend

Jurgen Klopp (Liverpool)

If you were to summon the antithesis of Manchester United’s José Mourinho, you’d end up with the bespectacled Liverpool gaffer. That brand-friendly persona could keep him out of hot water following an impromptu post-Origi-winner pitch invasion that capped off a remarkable derby day. Liverpool, who arguably still haven’t hit second gear, remain just two points adrift of leaders Manchester City. 

5. Moment to forget of the weekend

Jordan Pickford (Everton) v Liverpool

For 94 minutes of the Merseyside derby, Jordan Pickford, much like opposite number Alisson, had kept his team in the game. Then a moment of madness from the Everton stopper gifted Divock Origi a rare spot of Anfield glory, right at the death. England’s No1 will undoubtedly bounce back, so Wednesday’s timely clash with Newcastle cannot come soon enough.
