A weekend full of pedal power

Amateur and pro cyclists are gearing up for Prudential RideLondon 2018, live on the BBC

Keep up to speed with the best bits from this year’s event on the box

Prudential RideLondon 2018, from Saturday 28 July, 6pm, BBC Two/HD (CH 102/162)

Prudential RideLondon is the UK’s biggest celebration of all things cycling, bringing together elite racers and Lycra-clad members of the public for two days of fun-filled action.

This year’s festival in the city is set to be bigger than ever, and you can follow all the excitement live on the BBC!

Saturday’s big race sees the world’s best female riders battle it out around the capital in the prestigious Women’s Classique. The most lucrative one-day race in women’s cycling provided plenty of drama last year, as American Coryn Rivera pipped rival Lotta Lepistö to the rain-soaked finish line on The Mall.

The action continues on Sunday morning with a focus on multiple events involving the bike-mad British public, before concluding with the much-anticipated RideLondon-Surrey Classic.

Starting at Horse Guards Parade in central London, 150 of the world’s top male cyclists will tackle a 200km course that features a series of increasingly tough climbs in Surrey before finishing at The Mall. Norway’s Alexander Kristoff claimed a nail-biting victory in 2017, but with the biggest prize in men’s one-day cycling up for grabs, who will prove their pedalling prowess this time?
