We’ve got chills. They’re multiplying. That’s because Ski Sunday is set to deliver some heart-pumping action
Ski Sunday, Sunday 7 January, 5.15pm, BBC Two/HD (CH 102/162). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > BBC iPlayer
There are two things you need to know about the BBC’s flagship winter sports show Ski Sunday – which turns 40 in 2018. First, it has arguably the greatest theme tune of any TV show ever. Second, it’s a great starting point to get you in the mood for the Winter Olympics, which gets underway in Pyeongchang on 9 February.
This week you’ll be able to take in the action from the breathtaking Swiss resort of Adelboden, where some of the world’s top skiing superstars will compete in a World Cup slalom. Six-time champion Marcel Hirscher is one of the favourites on the slopes, but Britain’s very own Dave Ryding will also be hurtling downhill at a ridiculous speed in pursuit of glory.
And there’s even more British interest in this latest episode, as Tim Warwood travels to Italy (sounds like a tough gig) to meet Paddy Graham. Who? we hear you ask. Well, Graham is the sort of guy who puts adrenalin on his cereal in the morning. This Sheffield-born daredevil is out to break the air-time record for a freestyle jump – which is as admirable as it is dangerous. Kids, don’t try this at home.
