Move over Made In Chelsea, The Only Way Is Essex and Geordie Shore. There’s a new reality show in town and it’s absolutely wild

New to ITVBe, Absolutely Ascot follows the exploits of the glamorous (and extremely wealthy) young things of Ascot in Berkshire. They’ll be letting us into their mansions to show off exactly how extravagant a lifestyle money can buy (spoiler: it’s really extravagant).

Alfie Best Jr, son of a Romany Gypsy mobile home park millionaire, is a cast member you may recognise, having risen to fame when he appeared on Channel 4’s My Big Fat Gypsy Fortune at the age of 15. As well as following his dad’s example and buying his own mobile home park, he’s a pro super featherweight boxer.

For the time being the rest of the cast have less of a public profile – but that could all change soon! They include Best’s make-up artist girlfriend, the son of a housing developer, a beautician and, er, a Disney princess impersonator.

Confusingly, almost none of them actually lives in Ascot – some live as far away as Essex – and this has led to a certain amount of outrage from a few people do who do live in Ascot and who love a bit of outrage.

The series has been filming in and around the town over the summer, with locations including upscale restaurants and bars – although the programme makers were reportedly not allowed access to the famous racecourse. Like the rest of us, locals will have to wait until the first episode on 23 September to find exactly how fairly Ascot is being represented on screen…
