Get the lowdown from Paper Boi

Get the lowdown from Paper Boi

We speak exclusively to Atlanta star Brian Tyree Henry about his character, Donald Glover and the show’s latest headline-grabbing episode…

Just when you thought Atlanta couldn't surprise you any more, they go and make an episode like this...

Atlanta, continues Sunday 1 July, 10pm, FOX/HD (CH 157/199). Also available for 30 days in Catch Up > Channels > FOX

Have you been enjoying the second season of Atlanta on FOX? Of course you have. After all, there’s nothing quite like it on television.

Created by actor-writer-rapper-genius Donald Glover (Solo: A Star Wars Story), the idiosyncratic comedy drama centres on a college drop-out (Glover) who manages the career of his rapper cousin Alfred “Paper Boi” Miles (This Is Us’ Brian Tyree Henry) and has captured the imaginations of viewers both here and in the States with its eccentric mix of drama, comedy and unpredictability.

And the second episode in Sunday’s double bill (entitled “Teddy Perkins”) is yet another shining – and utterly surreal – example of why this award-winning show is grabbing all the headlines.

Donald Glover as Teddy Perkins in Atlanta

When Paper Boi’s buddy Darius (Get Out’s Lakeith Stanfield) visits a shadowy mansion to bag himself a free piano, he meets the mysterious and reclusive owner of the property, Teddy Perkins (above). From here, things start to get strange, leading Darius to wonder what Teddy’s motives really are…

We’re not going to give too much away here, but “Teddy Perkins” has already caused a huge stir in the USA, with critics lauding it as arguably the show’s most out-there episode yet – which is really saying something. And you’ll be surprised (to say the least) when you find out who the actor playing Perkins is...

But before you tune into the latest instalment of Atlanta on FOX, we caught up exclusively with one of its stars, Paper Boi himself, Brian Tyree Henry while he was over in London…
