The bank holiday weekend is almost upon us, which means you have an important choice to make.

 

You could go out and frolic in the glorious sunshine. Or, you could draw the curtains, get comfy on the sofa, and enjoy three days of dazzling entertainment on the box. (Let’s be honest: it’s a no-brainer.)

 

Whether you’re after a mega movie marathon, something for the little ones, or a smattering of stunning sporting action, there’s no shortage of top telly to feast your eyes on. Here, we pick out the must-watch highlights you won’t want to miss…

 

For the big kids…

Hook, Saturday 25 August, 9.10am, Sony Movie Channel (CH 425)

Steven Spielberg’s spectacular fantasy adventure is perfect bank holiday viewing for little and big kids alike. Robin Williams stars as an adult Peter Pan, who must go back to Neverland to rescue his young children from the dastardly Captain Hook (Dustin Hoffman). Julia Roberts, Bob Hoskins and Maggie Smith complete the stellar cast.

 

For the sci-fi fans…

Star Trek Movie Marathon, from Saturday 25 August, 1.30pm, SYFY/HD (CH 135/165)

With more action and adventure than you can shake a phaser at, get ready for three days of Star Trek blockbusters on SYFY. From 1979’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture to 1998’s Star Trek: Insurrection, that’s nine films of intergalactic awesomeness. To not tune in would be highly illogical.

 

For the armchair athletes…

Vuelta A España 2018, Saturday 25 August, 5.15pm, Eurosport 1/HD (CH 523/521)

Lasting three thigh-burning weeks, the Vuelta sits alongside the Giro d’Italia and Tour de France as one of cycling’s most prestigious annual road events. Chris Froome pedalled his way to glory 12 months ago, but can the Team Sky rider make it back-to-back triumphs? It all kicks off this weekend with an individual time trial in Malaga.
