Getting started

Whether you’re new to Virgin TV or an old hand upgrading from another of our TV boxes, here’s what you need to know to get your V6 box up and running.

Virgin TV remote

If your Virgin TV box has been swapped for a new one, or you’ve taken a Virgin TV V6 box or extra TiVo® box, you can copy some settings to the new box.

As long as it’s on the same account, you’ll be able to copy your settings for Series Link+, Thumb ratings and WishLists®. If your old box has been taken away, you need to do this within 14 days of getting the new Virgin TV box – after that your original settings won’t be available.

Here’s how you do it:

1.    Go to virginmedia.com/tvanywhere*.

2.    Select Manage My TiVo from the Virgin TV Anywhere menu.

3.    Select Copy TiVo settings from the menu.

4.    Choose the box you’d like to copy the settings from.

5.    Choose the box you’d like to copy the settings to.

6.    Pick the settings you’d like to copy.

7.    Review the changes and confirm you’re happy. You’ll then see a confirmation message. From here it can take up to 30 minutes to complete.

If you have more than one Virgin TV box and aren’t sure which box name refers to which, you can find the one you want using the TiVo Service Number (TSN). The TSN is a unique code which identifies each Virgin TV box.

To find it:

1.    Use your TiVo remote and go to Home > Help & Settings > System Info > System Info.

2.    The TSN is on the first screen you see.

You can also give your Virgin TV V6 or TiVo® box a friendly name to make it easier to find. Using your remote go to Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Devices > Name this TiVo Box. Select one of the suggested names or enter one from scratch.

Your super-powered Virgin TV V6 remote is smaller and smarter than ever. To be able to use the ‘Find My Remote’ functionality, it will need to be paired with your Virgin TV V6 box.

Your Virgin TV V6 remote should automatically be paired with the box when set up, but if not, there two ways to do it.

Using your Virgin TV V6 remote:

1.    Go to Home > Help & Settings > Settings > Devices > Remote Control Pairing.

2.    Press and hold the Info button for 7 seconds until the light at the top of the remote goes solid green then flashes green twice.

Or, by using the Virgin TV V6 box and remote:

1.    Press the Channel Down button on the front of the Virgin TV V6 box for 10 seconds.

2.    Then, hold the Info button down on the remote for 7 seconds. The light on the top of the remote will flash green twice.

If the top of the remote flashes red twice the pairing hasn’t worked. Move closer to the Virgin TV V6 box and give it another go.

You can also program your remote to control your TV’s standby setting and volume. You can read how to do it, or head to Home > Help & Settings > Help > TiVo box > Program your Remote using the remote
