How do broadband and phone deals work?
Find our best broadband and phone deal for you by using the following guide:
1. Availability
Using our broadband postcode checker, you can see what Virgin Media deals are available for you to compare in your area. All of our packages, including broadband and phone deals, come with unlimited broadband.
2. Speed
Learning about our speeds – all of which are available with a landline – will help you to choose the right package for you. Our broadband and phone deals range from M125 (an 132Mbps average download speed) to our fastest Gig1 (averaging 1,130Mbps downloads) so, we have a speed for you, whatever your needs.
3. Inclusive calls and minutes
Get a landline tariff that comes with the right, inclusive (evening, weekend or anytime) calls for you. You can still use your home phone outside of these times, but it’ll cost extra (calls to our customer support team are free – dial: 150). Learn more about our everyday call charges for phone and broadband deals.
4. Price
Beyond comparing the monthly prices of the broadband and landline deals, you’ll want to consider any setup fees or one-off charges that may be included in the first bill. And here’s what else may affect costs.
The contract should be affordable and have a minimum term that you can commit to as there may be a charge for ending the contract too early. Landline and broadband deals (above) have standard 18-month contracts but we also offer shorter term options such our flexible 30-day rolling contracts.
All of our broadband and phone deals come with Weekend chatter as standard and on this landline plan, calls to mobile phones will cost extra. Or, when you’re going through our online checkout, you can choose to customise your package and take one of our other landline plans, for inclusive calls to UK mobiles, so your monthly cost doesn’t go up due to calls outside of your allowance.
Taking a more affordable home phone plan and buying add-ons, such as Talk International £2, is a one way to call overseas. But if you have a friend or family member living abroad, you probably want a landline tariff that’ll let you call international mobiles and landlines more often: International anytime chatter.
Having the option to customise your landline package at an extra cost is always a bonus. Whether you want privacy options, such as anonymous caller reject or an option to manage incoming calls, such as call divert, free call back or call waiting, premium call add-ons will do the trick.
When signing up to a new service or switching providers, it’s important to consider that new equipment might need to be installed, such as a new WiFi hub or wiring. You may be required to pay an installation fee, delivery fee or other set up costs to get started.
A voucher, gift card, cash back, speed upgrade or some other great perk can make broadband and phone deals better value for money. We often label the latest gifts and offers on the respective broadband and landline deals (above). Make sure you look them over and find out more, such as the price you can expect to pay after a period of reduced cost.
It’s worth checking what else you can bundle with your broadband and phone deal so you can take advantage of discounted rates and more manageable bills. Adding mobile and TV to your broadband package can make life simpler with everything being with one provider. Check out our broadband, TV and phone deals.

- Select the best deal for you and enter your details to complete your order. We’ll then get things set up on our side so we can get your property connected as soon as possible.
- If you haven’t already, make sure you cancel your services with your current provider. It’s best to leave your existing provider once you’re out of your initial contracted period to avoid any additional charges.

In some cases, yes, as many broadband services in the UK are delivered through copper cables that connect to your landline, which you may pay line rental for. However, this doesn’t mean you have to pay for landline services to get broadband. At Virgin Media, we offer a fixed line non-FTTP broadband without a phone line, possible thanks to our coaxial network.
When people talk about broadband-without-phone-line services, they’re often referring to fibre broadband. However, there are only some types of fibre that don’t require a phone line. Fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) for example, doesn’t require a phone line. That’s because this type of connection uses fibre optic cables all the way from the exchange to your home. Whereas fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) does require a phone. That’s because this type of connection uses fibre optic cables from the exchange to your local cabinet only. The connection from that cabinet to your home is still made using copper cables, and so a phone line is necessary.
