As you move your devices around, Intelligent WiFi checks on them all to see if they need a nudge on to the best WiFi band. Thanks to this adaptive band steering feature, you should have a fast and reliable broadband connection.

WiFi tailored to your needs
Older devices that can’t keep up with ultrafast broadband speeds can slow down a busy home WiFi network, unless you have Intelligent WiFi. It’s airtime fairness feature helps share WiFi throughout the home so all devices (and people using them) get the connection they need from the Hub 3, 4 or 5.

Scan your home using the free Virgin Media Connect app and, if it finds signal blackspots, you can now order an Intelligent WiFi Pod by calling 0800 064 3850.
Take control using the Connect app
The Virgin Media Connect App is the control unit for your WiFi. It lets you run a super-intelligent WiFi home scan to smooth out any snags, speed up your connection all around the house and pause WiFi to any device when you need to – perfect for when it’s the kids’ bedtime.
With the Connect app, you can also check out how all your WiFi Pods are doing – see their signal strength, which devices are connected to each one, get troubleshooting tips, rename them and much more.
Can I use mesh WiFi with an existing router?
Only the Hub 3, 4 and 5 have Intelligent WiFi mesh technology inside. If you’d like to start using mesh WiFi but have a different type of Hub, you’ll need to upgrade your Virgin Media online.

Our WiFi guarantee is our promise you’ll enjoy download speeds of at least 30Mbps in every room or get £100 bill credit. And with our handy Virgin Media Connect app, you’ll be able to see how well your WiFi’s working, whenever you want.
WiFi Max brings you our WiFi guarantee backed up by our Intelligent WiFi service and signal-boosting mesh WiFi Pods at no extra cost with Gig1 Fibre Broadband, Ultimate Oomph and our Volt packages, or for £8 a month with one of our M50 to M500 packages without Volt.
If you’ve got Gig1 Fibre Broadband, Ultimate Oomph or one of our Volt packages, you can place an eligible order for your first mesh WiFi Pod on free Virgin Media Connect app. Or if we find there are no faults with your broadband service, but you’re still experiencing slow speeds, you can order a WiFi Pod online – just run a test on your services first.
If you’re adding WiFi Max with one of our M50 to M500 packages without Volt via the routes above, we’ll provide your first WiFi Pod automatically once your order’s been confirmed.
If you need a second or third Pod, sign in to My Virgin Media, click on Your Package and follow the steps in the WiFi Max tab.

If you already have Intelligent WiFi Plus, we’ll move you over to WiFi Max automatically – you won’t need to do a thing. And if you’ve got Gig1 Fibre Broadband, Ultimate Oomph or a Volt bundle, you’ll get it at no extra cost.
If you already have Intelligent WiFi Plus with any of our other broadband packages, you’ll continue to pay £5 a month for WiFi Max. We’ll send you an email about this – once you’ve received it, you’ll be moved over to WiFi Max within a month or so.
We may ask you to do a super-easy online broadband speed test, and to answer a few questions so we know we’re giving you what’s right for your needs.
With WiFi Max, you can get signal-boosting mesh WiFi Pods if you need them. These work together with our WiFi Hubs, and pack in next-level mesh WiFi technology for better coverage and faster speeds around the house.
The clever tech learns how you use WiFi – when and where you use it, and what devices you connect to it. It constantly updates itself to create the best conditions for the network your household needs. Just plug in the mesh WiFi Pods to link them to the Hub.
Our old WiFi Boosters help you tackle WiFi coverage problems. They use your home’s electrical wiring to boost the WiFi signal in the room.
Our new mesh WiFi Pods plug into any normal three-pin socket in your house, and work using mesh WiFi technology instead of your electrical wiring. They’ll team up with our wireless broadband Hub to boost your WiFi coverage around your home, even in those tricky signal-less spots.
