What student internet deals do you have?
We have a range of deals for students looking for fast fibre broadband. Our packages start from M100, which comes with an average download speed of 108Mbps, all the way up to M500, which has an average download speed of 516Mbps. You can also choose from a 12 month contract or a more flexible 30 day rolling contract. Check out the deals at the top of the page to find the one best suited to your needs.
Although we don’t offer student discount on WiFi for students, you can choose from our standard 18 month contract, or opt for one of our super flexible 30 day rolling contracts.
What broadband speed do I need?
The best broadband deals for students are ones that allow you to get the fastest download speeds in your student accommodation. At Virgin Media, we have four fibre broadband packages to choose from – and because it’s fibre it means you’ll get a superfast connection.
Our first student package is M100 – it’s good for conducting research for your essays, scrolling on social media and bingeing on a few episodes. Our top student package is M500 – it’s the cream of the crop for multi-gaming, HD streaming and more.
How can I access the student WiFi deals?
We’ve made it easy to access the best broadband deals for students. Once you’ve chosen your student broadband package and contract length, simply give us your academic email address (they end in ac.uk) and we’ll take care of the rest.
Do students get discounts on WiFi?
There are no discounts on our student broadband deals for home broadband, which is where your home WiFi connection comes from.
As a Virgin Media customer you can download the Virgin Media Connect app, which grants you access to our network of up to 20 million WiFi hotspots in the UK and abroad at no extra cost.
How can I find out what broadband speed to get?
We offer a range of broadband speeds on our student packages, so you should be able to find one that’s suitable for your household’s needs. Check the packages on this page to see what’s on offer for you.
Generally speaking, the faster your broadband speed the more devices you can keep connected at the same time. If your student house has a lot of residents who stream, download and have loads of devices connected at the same time, you’ll need a faster speed to accommodate that increased bandwidth.
Is Virgin Media student broadband unlimited?
Yes. All our broadband deals are unlimited, including our student broadband packages.
How do I get broadband in my student accommodation?
Once you’ve chosen your student broadband package, follow the steps to pay and set up your installation. Depending on where you live, and whether your property has had Virgin Media in the past, you will need to choose an engineer installation, or one of our QuickStart self-install packages.
What should I look for when choosing student broadband?
There’re a few things to consider when choosing your student broadband package. The key things to bear in mind are what broadband speed your household needs, what contract length you need (we currently offer 12 month and 30 day rolling contracts) and what your budget is.

Is mobile broadband a good alternative to home broadband for students?
Mobile broadband is a good option for those who need to connect their devices when they’re out of the house and away from a home broadband’s WiFi connection.
The mobile broadband Virgin Media offers come on 12 month and 30 day contracts, but have a download limit. This means they are better used for short stints of browsing and sending email, as opposed to streaming content and keeping loads of devices connected at the same time.

What is a minimum period? **When you take any services from us you will be committing to taking that service for a minimum amount of time (e.g. 18 months). We call this a minimum period, minimum term or minimum commitment period but they mean the same thing. What if I cancel or move home? If you cancel during the minimum period, you may need to pay an early disconnection fee, including when you move to a property outside of the Virgin Media Network area – this is because you will be asking to cancel your services early.
