When are you experiencing slow speeds?

There might be a temporary problem with the actual website or app.

Firstly, try again in a few minutes in case the bug has been fixed. You may also want to check that the app and software on your device is up to date.

Lastly, it’s worth deleting and reinstalling the app if the previous steps haven’t worked.

The more devices (including things like smart speakers and smart meters) you connect to the Hub, the more it can slow down. Also don't forgot about things running in the background like open internet browser tabs and app updates.

Some activities like streaming in HD need faster speeds. If you can, connect these devices with an Ethernet cable.

If you're experiencing slower speeds at peak times or when you have too many devices connected to th Hub, your package might not be the right one for you.

You may experience slower speeds or issues connecting when you are in rooms further away from the Hub. This is probably because your WiFi signal is struggling to reach your devices. It’s best to check your WiFi signal strength using the Virgin Media Connect app. And if the scan finds a WiFi blackspot, you can use the app to order a WiFi Booster.

Working from home and using VPN?

Many companies use a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to provide employees with a secure and encrypted connection to work safely from home.

Due to the additional protection provided by VPN, the broadband speed you receive may be impacted. This is because all your internet traffic needs to go through your employer's network and servers. During peak office hours and with more people working remotely, it may take longer for the data to pass through.

If you're experiencing slower speeds, disconnecting and reconnecting to your VPN can help.

When running a speed test, make sure you turn off your VPN to see if you are experiencing slower speeds.
