Virgin TV V6, powered by TIVO

By default your Virgin TV V6 box will go into standby if it hasn’t been used for four hours. Don’t worry, your Virgin TV V6 box will always record any shows you have scheduled to be recorded during the standby time.

If you want to change when your Virgin TV V6 box goes into standby, you can do so. To change your default setting:

  1. Press Home on your remote
  2. Select Help & Settings
  3. Select Settings
  4. Select Devices
  5. Select Power Saving Settings

The power saving settings you can choose are:

  • Always On - Your Virgin TV V6 box won't power down, no matter how long you haven't used it. If you want to turn it off, press the On/Standby button on your remote
  • Connected Low Power - Your Virgin TV V6 box will power down if you don't use it for 4 hours - you'll still be able to watch your recordings in another room, use the Virgin TV app as normal, and Suggestions will still record
  • Eco Low Power – Your Virgin TV V6 box will completely power down if you don't use it for 4 hours - if you still want to watch your recordings in another room, use the Virgin TV app as normal, and Suggestions to record when your box is powered down, you can select Connected Low Power mode instead

When your box is in standby mode, you’ll see a red light to the right on the front panel, but no picture or sound. To get things started again you just need to wake up your Virgin TV V6 box. This is easy; just press any of these buttons on your V6 remote:

  • Home
  • TV
  • Channel up/down
  • Any number key
  • On/Standby

V/ V HD / V+ HD

We’ve designed our V HD box to be as energy-efficient as possible, so there are two energy-saving modes when your box is not in use:

  • Power Off – the V HD box consumes only 0.6 watts of power
  • Standby – turns off all outputs on the V HD box

NOTE: Our V+ HD boxes and older V boxes don’t have automatic standby options.

If you've had a V HD box installed or replaced after the 10th June 2014 it will be set to Power Off by default, all other V HD boxes will enter Standby by default.
Our V HD Box looks like this:

If you haven’t used your V HD remote for three hours, an on screen message will be displayed to warn you before your box goes into one of the energy-saving modes and you’ll be able to keep watching TV by pressing OK on your remote.

When your V HD box is in Power Off mode, it only takes 40 seconds from pressing the Power button to wake up, so you won’t miss any of your favourite TV.

If you'd prefer your box stays on, you can change the settings. To do this:

  1. Press Home on your remote.
  2. Select Settings
  3. Select Power Saving Settings

Whenever you press the Standby button on your remote, you’ll be able to choose which energy-saving mode your V HD box enters.
