FAQ - Cable My Street

I've got a question

4 million extra homes. Pretty cool, right?

We currently reach just over 44% of homes in the UK. We expect that to rise to almost 57%.

We'll focus on the streets near our network first. The decision to cable a street is based on both this and how interested your local community is in getting our services. If you want us, we want you! That's why we're encouraging as many people as possible to register their interest so we know who's keen.

We're still working on the plans. It all depends on your distance from our current network and level of interest from people in your area – including you! Nothing's guaranteed at the moment, but all of this will help us learn where to bring our services in the future. Don't worry – we'll email you updates to confirm when we'll come to your area.

Our product range and prices are all available to view on our website. We should be able to offer our full product range once we've cabled your area. We'll also be able to give new customers a fab introductory offer. Good, right?

What happens after I register?

Nope. Sit back, relax and we'll be in touch as soon as we have any news. We plan our network based on demand so if you can get other people in your area to register their interest, this'll help speed up the time it takes to get our services.

We're currently registering initial interest, but as our plans grow in the next few months we'll be the first to give you a shout if we're coming to your area. We'll drop you an email, so keep an eye out!

Yes! In a small number of cases there may be some restriction, but the majority of homes will be able to benefit from all the great services we have to offer. You'll be able to experience the internet with VIVID, our next generation optical fibre, a host of Sky channels including Sky Sports and Sky Movies, our HD ready TiVo® – record three channels while watching a fourth, plus Talk Weekends. Not only that, our Virgin Mobile and SIM Only deals don't rely on our cable, so you can check them out right away.

At this stage, no. Until we have firmer plans to get cracking in your area, we can't take any pre-orders. But sit tight, and we'll let you know as soon as you can.

All our new customers will get great value discounts on our ultrafast broadband and bundles. Register now to be the first to hear about them when we reach your area. We can guarantee an introductory discount when our services become available!

We provide the UK's fastest UK's widely available broadband. We recommend VIVID (up to 200Mbps) is suitable for homes that have 10 or more devices.

Our up to 50Mbps broadband is on average 6x faster than regular broadband ~, our up to 100Mbps optical fibre is on average 10x faster than regular broadband ~ and our up to 200Mbps optical fibre is up to 14 times faster than regular broadband. º

How does registering work?

Not entirely. The expansion is based on several factors including whether there are existing networks nearby we can extend, opportunities to start work, and of course whether you want us. But don't forget, registrations in your area will help speed things up, so it's worth doing.

No. We're super early on in the process, so there's no commitment required from anyone right now. And if your street gets the go ahead, Virgin Media will be picking up the bill for any work done.

Some properties may not be able to be connected due to factors like infrastructure, whereas other streets are a short distance from an existing network – which means it's easier and cheaper to get them connected. Whatever the situation for you, we'll keep in close contact so you're up to date with progress in your area.

Not necessarily. Thanks to our new expansion plan, we could well be coming your way!

No, sorry. There will be some areas of the UK we can't get to as our current network is too far away. We'll always let you know if you fall into this group, and of course if this changes in the future we'll be in touch ASAP.

Yes, of course! We'd love to hear from small businesses as well as home users. If your business is larger, the Virgin Media Business Team can help you with any queries. Simply select 'Business' when you register your business.

Updates by email

As soon as we have updates or news in your area, we'll ping you an email. We'll get in touch to confirm what stage we are with the plans and also what happens next. And when we're almost there, you'll get a super introductory offer to say thanks for waiting. Pretty cool, right?

Good news – it's highly likely we'll be able to offer you our services in the near future. There's a lot of work to be done behind the scenes though, so as soon as we know more detail with dates and timings, we'll email and update you. Don't worry about contacting our Care and Sales agents – we promise to keep you in the loop.

We are constantly reviewing the areas that we plan to come to. So if we can't offer you a service right now, rest assured this could change. We'll keep your details safe and send you an email if things change. Don't worry about contacting us – we promise to keep you in the loop.

How can I speed up Virgin Media coming to my area?

Yes! We're working on our expansion plans, so tell your friends and neighbours to register their interest too, as we're prioritising areas with the highest demand.

There is no definite percentage as it's based on several other factors like the cost to start work and proximity to our existing network.

Yes! We are planning to bring cool things, like a support pack, to help everyone understand why it makes sense to get Virgin Media services. We'll add this to our website soon. For now all the information about our products and prices are shown on our website

We can make some plans when it comes to new networks, but we can't predict where people will want our services. This is why we've made the Cable My Street program – to let customers decide where we should expand to, so we make the most of our cable. It's all about you, so why not get involved?
