Virgin Media powers Destiny 2 BETA

26 July 2017

Giving customers the best experiences through ultrafast connectivity

**At Virgin Media, we’re proudly known for making good things happen and giving our customers amazing money-can’t buy experiences. **

We’ve lived up to this again thanks to our partnership with Activision and Bungie for the video game, Destiny 2, where we’ve given gamers exclusive access to the BETA ahead of its global release.

We invited competition winners (customers and employees) to the ‘Virgin Fibre x Destiny 2: The Beta Experience’ so they could get hands-on with the BETA before anyone else.

The event, held in a top-secret location, was powered by our ultrafast VIVID Gamer broadband; our full-force fibre for gamers and streamers. Designed in collaboration with gaming organisations, it offers unlimited ultrafast download speeds of up to 200Mbps and superior upload speeds of up to 20Mbps.

From Activision and Bungie; Destiny 2 is one of this year’s most hotly anticipated games. Featuring a cinematic story campaign, the last safe city on Earth has fallen and lays in ruins, occupied by Dominus Ghaul and his elite army, the Red Legion. Every player creates their own character called a ‘Guardian’, humanity’s chosen protectors. As a Guardian, players must master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city’s forces, stand together and fight back to reclaim their home.

The ‘Virgin Fibre x Destiny 2: The Beta Experience’ offered fans a truly immersive experience as they got to enjoy three types of gameplay modes on PlayStation 4, including on PS4 Pro, where they played in up-scaled 4K resolution.

Gamers were blown away by our level of detail too, as the event space was inspired by the game thanks to props, artwork, and a replica of the Traveller – a giant sphere that hangs above the earth – which was suspended from the ceiling.

It’s all about giving our customers the best experiences – all thanks to our ultrafast connectivity. Keep an eye out and thumbs at the ready as we’ll reveal more Destiny 2 news soon.
