Virgin Media unveils game changer with unprecedented savings on Sky Sports

13th July 2014

  • New and exclusive Season Ticket for a one-off upfront cost of £150
  • Only Virgin Media offers every major live sports channel in one place from a single provider
  • For the first time, Virgin Media customers can watch every Sky Sports channel ‘on the go’ and all in HD at home too
  • New Sky Sports 5 and Sky Sports 5 HD available to Virgin Media customers from launch

Virgin Media has unveiled the UK’s first sports television Season Ticket; a new and exclusive way fans can save hundreds of pounds on the cost of watching Sky Sports channels at home and on the go. With three new Sky Sports HD channels arriving on Virgin TV this week, only Virgin Media will offer every major live sports channel in one place from a single provider.

Big savings with Virgin Media Season Ticket

Available to new and existing Virgin Media customers until the close of the transfer widow at the end of August, the Season Ticket gives ten months access to Sky Sports 1, Sky Sports 2, Sky Sports 3, Sky Sports 4 and Sky Sports 5 for a one-off upfront cost of £150.*

The unprecedented savings add up to over 40% compared to paying month-by-month. When combined with Virgin Media’s Big Kahuna quad-play bundle, households can save over £400 in a year compared to the closest comparable offering from Sky.**

Virgin Media is the home of sport on TV – at home or on the go

Virgin Media is taking pole position as the most comprehensive provider of top sports TV in the UK, delivering all the live sporting action from Sky Sports, BT Sport, ESPN, British Eurosport, Premier Sport, BoxNation, Racing TV and more.

As the only way to get every major live sports channel from one provider, Virgin TV is set to take the title of High Definition heavyweight on Tuesday, 15th July, when it adds Sky Sports 3 HD, Sky Sports 4 HD and Sky Sports F1 HD. Sky Sports 5 and Sky Sports 5 HD will be available from launch on Tuesday, 12th August.

Virgin Media customers will also soon have access to all their Sky Sports channels on the go, for the first time, through a dedicated app. This will be initially available for iOS mobile and tablet devices, as well as online, with an Android version coming later.

Dana Strong, Chief Operating Officer at Virgin Media, said; “Virgin Media is now the home of all the major live sports in the UK in HD or on the go.  This is the first time all the Sky and BT Sport channels will be available in one place, backed by superfast broadband, for a single great value price.

“It doesn’t matter if you are watching at home or on the go, you now have front row access to all the top sporting action with Virgin Media.”
