Getting muddy for good causes

28 August 2017

Our people are passionate about supporting causes close to their heart and we love shining a light on them when they do.

Two recent examples of our people supporting good causes – and getting rather muddy in the process – include community gardening in Glasgow and completing a Tough Mudder race for Scope.

Many of our people have laced up their trainers to complete a sporting challenge for our national charity partner, Scope. Earlier this year, for example, a team of nine completed the London Marathon and just last weekend another 10.5 miles were pounded out at the South Gloustershire Tough Mudder.

Notoriously challenging, the course included over 20 obstacles ranging from tall wooden walls, carrying logs through ice cold water and running through 'electroshock therapy' with its live electric wires. Despite being caked in mud, soaked and frozen through in equal measure, all involved finished the race with a smile on their face. All their fundraising will go towards supporting Scope’s important work.

It’s not just Scope that our people are rolling up their sleeves for. Recently a team from our Glasgow office supported their local community church in Motherwell by giving the church’s garden a thoroughly good spruce up. Armed with shovels the team transformed the outdoor area, much to the admiration of local residents.

Their good deed didn’t stop there. One passing elderly resident told the team that living alone and with no family he struggles to keep his garden in order. Our big hearted colleagues agreed to go back on their day off, in their own time, to help out. This team really are making good things happen!
