Cash awards for our volunteering heroes

13 December 2017

Our people are passionate about supporting causes close to their heart and we love shining a light on them when they do.

Some recent examples of our people supporting good causes have come to the fore in the shape of our five In Heroes 2017 award winners.

In Heroes is an annual competition held by our parent company, Liberty Global, which awards employees who have demonstrated an ongoing commitment and positive impact to charitable cause.

The awards recognise and celebrate employees for their voluntary work and the charities supported by the winners are sent a cash donation by Liberty Global.

Winning the runner-up prize, Paul Hughes, has been acknowledged for his work as a Community First Responder for the South Central Ambulance Service, including regularly being first on the scene to attend to patients and raising money for new responder vehicles. The charity will receive 3,000 euros as a result of Paul’s success in the awards.

Conall Gribben, Brad Fletcher, Nerys Morgan and Jonathan Dunbar were shortlisted for playing a proactive role in the charities they volunteer for; the Small Charities Coalition, Odiham Scouts, Farnham Scouts and the Ammanford FoodBank respectively. Each charity will receive 1,000 euros.

We support our people to get behind causes close to their heart through a programme that includes match funding, volunteer days and payroll giving. It’s all part of our longstanding commitment to make good things happen in the communities we serve across the UK and Ireland. You can find out more about this here.
