Our Voom Tour means business

6 June 2017

We're taking to the road to help entrepreneurs

Last month Virgin Media Business launched Voom Pitch, the UK and Ireland’s biggest pitching competition at an event in East London.

This year we’re introducing a local element to the competition, holding mini pitch events around the country as part of the Voom Tour. The first one took place at the London Business Show, before moving on to Dublin, and this week our double decker bus arrives in Belfast to help local businesses unleash their digital potential.

The first person to get on board the Voom Tour bus was none other than Sir Richard Branson – but he wasn’t the only entrepreneur at the launch in London.

A mix of old and new entrepreneurs from our revamped Voom Pioneers community were invited along to make some essential connections to help their business. They had the opportunity to hear from a panel of entrepreneurs who’ve been there before - including Richard and Voom 2016 winner Toby McCartney of Macrebur.

Familiar Pioneers faces included Nathaniel Peat and Dowa Ojarike, co-founders of GeNNex, who met through the community. They were joined by Sarah Hilleary of B-Tempted; Ronke Ige of Emi & Ben; Rachel de Caux and Paula Short of Glitter Lips; Ricky Kothari of T-Sticks; Melissa Ogbonna of Luxury Events Group; and Chris Telesford of AME Communicate Ltd. Not forgetting our Global Entrepreneurship Week 2016 winners Emeka and Ifeyinwa Frederick of Chuku’s.

This year’s Voom Tour means business. We’re taking the Voom energy out on the road, encouraging Pioneers to come along to one of our stops so they can meet a whole host of experts. As well as getting involved in competitions and pitching opportunities.

Whether it’s getting some social media attention, finding that much-needed advice on crowdfunding, accounting or PR, or the chance to win a chat with Sir Richard Branson, the Voom Tour will have a big impact on small businesses across the UK and Ireland.
