Making match day experiences great for fans with sensory differences

As proud shirt sponsors of Southampton FC (SFC), we’re always looking at how we can improve the match day experience for fans - it’s part of our ethos that football belongs to all fans.

We’re delighted to have funded a sensory room at the club’s St Mary’s stadium, providing a calming environment for fans of all ages with sensory differences, or who may find the atmosphere of a football stadium challenging.  The sensory room - one of the first in the Premier League - will also make match attendance a possibility for some Saints fans, for whom this hadn’t been the case until now.

We know that one in five people in the UK are disabled and we know disabled football fans may face difficulties travelling to matches or being able to enjoy a game1. SFC is taking the lead in this area to make the Saints one of the most inclusive clubs in the country. The new sensory room is testament to their commitment to ensuring the stadium welcomes all fans.

It follows on from our successful campaign earlier in the year where we donated our shirt sponsorship of the club to our national charity partner, Scope, to raise awareness of disability discrimination in football.

We’re aiming to be a different type of football sponsor, where we’re on the side of fans, using our role in the sport to get behind the issues that matter to supporters.

Check out our shirt-swap campaign here and find out more about the sensory room here.
