Supporting Sports Relief 2016

In addition to our National Charity Partnership with Scope, Virgin Media is committed to supporting a number of UK charity appeals throughout the year. Sports Relief is one of them and today three of our customer contact centres are providing crucial support to this great cause by taking donations over the phone from the public.

Sports Relief encourages people to run, swim, cycle or walk themselves proud to raise money to help transform the lives of the world poorest communities – both abroad and in the UK. In the last two years, Sports Relief cash has enabled;

• Over 189,000 children to get an education
• 16,500 people to get support to improve their mental health
• Over 734,000 children have received lifesaving vaccines
• 23 projects have been funded to support people with dementia

This year Virgin Media is getting involved by taking donations over the phone during the televised event later on today. Our Customer Contact centres in Bellshill, Sheffield and Teesside are dedicating their phone lines to help the UK public donate to this great cause. Over 300 of our people have volunteered to take part and we wish them all the best. They are doing Virgin Media proud.

In addition, fundraising and awareness raising activities are happening across our sites today to give our people the chance to donate to this important cause.
