More than a decade after they first met in the Octagon, Max Holloway and Conor McGregor are set to face each other once again.

Their first meeting came in Boston in August 2013, when McGregor was making his third UFC appearance and Holloway was a 21-year-old featherweight early in his UFC career. McGregor earned a unanimous decision victory despite sustaining an ACL injury during the contest.

Since then, both fighters have gone on to become UFC champions. McGregor won featherweight and lightweight titles, becoming the promotion's first simultaneous two-division champion, while Holloway captured the featherweight championship and successfully defended it three times.

Now they meet again at UFC 329. You can watch Conor McGregor v Max Holloway 2 live on TNT Sports with Virgin Media from midnight on Saturday 11 July (early Sunday morning).

After a lengthy absence from competition, former UFC Featherweight and Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor returns to the Octagon.

He later defeated Eddie Alvarez to become the UFC's first simultaneous two-division champion, adding the lightweight title to his résumé.

Over the course of his UFC career, McGregor has faced a number of the sport's top competitors, earning victories over Chad Mendes, Dustin Poirier, Donald Cerrone and Nate Diaz. Known for his striking and knockout power, he established himself as one of the promotion's leading competitors during his championship run.

Now, McGregor returns looking to show he can still compete against elite opposition and make a successful comeback inside the Octagon.

McGregor vs Holloway 2: how do they measure up?

UFC 329: what you need to know

It's not often that the UFC can headline an event with two former featherweights competing at welterweight, but Conor McGregor and Max Holloway have never followed the conventional path.

More than 13 years after their first meeting in the Octagon, the pair renew their rivalry in one of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history. McGregor won their original contest by unanimous decision in 2013, but both fighters have gone on to become champions and establish themselves among the biggest names in mixed martial arts.

For McGregor, UFC 329 represents the opportunity to make a statement on his return to competition after a lengthy absence. Holloway, meanwhile, has the chance to avenge one of the earliest defeats of his career and add another defining victory to an already remarkable résumé.

The co-main event sees top lightweight contenders Paddy Pimblett and Benoît Saint Denis meet in a pivotal clash with major implications for the division. Elsewhere on the main card, top bantamweights Cory Sandhagen and Mario Bautista square off in a contest that could move the winner into title contention, while Britain's Lone'er Kavanagh faces former flyweight title challenger Brandon Royval in the biggest test of his UFC career to date. The main card is rounded out by a lightweight contest between King Green and Terrance McKinney.
