Duffy found 'The One' quick

Duffy knew her boyfriend was 'The One' from the first time she met him.

The Well Well Well singer is currently dating rugby player Mike Phillips and insists she realised on their initial date that he was what was missing from her life.

She said: 'I've learned that you can't help who you fall in love with. I'm a control freak at the best of times, but I have no control over that.

'I knew I was missing something in my life, then I met Mike and knew he was 'The One' from our first date. He's had a huge influence on me. We're really happy.'

Mike has also been a great help to the 26-year-old pop star during a difficult time in her life, where, despite her success she split with her management company.

While she's not allowed to talk about what happened, Duffy - who sold over eight million copies of her debut album Rockferry - claims the experience nearly made her quit music.

The Mercy hitmaker - whose new album Endlessly is out now - added to LOOK magazine: 'There was a mutual parting of ways, but initially it came as a surprise. There are moments in my life when I look around and I feel kicked to the curb. I thought I'd found someone I could trust, and yet here I am a year late, reinventing myself with no explanation.

'I can't tell too much about what I've been through because there's too much at stake.'
